On The Back side of Dominica in between the rain Showers there are lots of Rainbows.. This on the way to Roseau the Capital on the SW corner.
Sadly many of the real homes in Dominica look like this. The people here do not have much, but there is a friendliness and a warmth about them..This re created Home was from the Pirates of the Caribbean Movie and it is where Jack goes to visit the Witch in the Swamp.
One thing that has not changed in the River is it still prohibits motors. So all movement is by Rowed boats. The Dominicans do love bright colours..

Up early and off to the Saturday market in Portsmouth. The fruit and vegetables were great. Certainly no GM stuff here. After that was done we split the crew in two groups less El Capitano.. and off they went to the Indian River. It has changed little in the 30 years I have been coming here BUT for the fact it is where they shot some of the Pirates of the Caribbean. As you can see there are still Pirates up there...Boxy, Markus Emerson Raya and Jamey... Being rowed up the river by the guide David...

We arrived in to Anchor . Tied up Waldo alongside and went for a swim around the boat.
It was quite windy and rough so a full Rinse off with fresh water was done..Then it poured with rain for an hour or so! However all good and Happy to be in Beautiful Dominca. The people are so Friendly. A Trial Cocktail from a menu supplied by the girls fresh from a Cocktail course...Dinner by Raya and so to Bed..

One of the defining factors to get going is the Tow of Annalu the 45' Wally Tender. Faithfully tucked in behind us for the trip South. It limits a bit how we operate under way with the Tow. However we are all happy she is back and ready to go...Good Job Emerson!
We decided to bring forward Departure by 24 hours to get a better weather window heading South. Easier to delay a day than to bring forward but the Guys and Gals worked hard and late into the evening yesterday and we managed to leave this morning from Antigua at 0745. Winds are Perfect at 15 knots from the East. Temperature 26c and Seas on the beam at 1.5m. Man over Board drills and abandon ship drills to keep us all sharp. ETA to Portsmouth Dominica 1700 this evening...
Well done to the girls of Rosehearty! The challenge was to develop an eco friendly water during to give guests in Lieu of water bottles. Lena and Jamey were runners up with over 40 boats here at the show.. A really good effort girls...Moringa Infused Detoxifying Water. (leaves from the Tree of Life) and lets be fair, who serves water in a Martini glass...It is for Vodka... Now Boys..What can we do..
We are having our Open Party at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina tomorrow night! We have got the ICE!!
The view form the other side showing most of the boats at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina
Most of these boats are over 60m!
Ready to wow the charter brokers. Rosehearty and Annalu sure have a great story to tell
We arrived in Antigua and the last 2 weeks have been spent getting Rosehearty back to show condition. @ coats of Varnish and everything polished...She Looking Nice!
Last Job before the show opens putting up the Perini Navi House flag. Here Mark standing on the top the mast 196 feet off the deck. Got more Nous than Me..I would not go up there and cerainly not stand on the mast head. That is Falmouth Harbour behind Mark
There will be plenty of Moon shots over the next few days but here is ours from Rosehearty just after Sunset About 1/2 way between Newport and Bermuda., So close you feel you could reach up and touch it
We dropped a sealed bottle in to the sea containing a nice Watercolour and some notes. We hope to hear where the bottle ends up.
Right after this went in a Dolphin jumped and swam by us..A good omen..
We were at position 38n and 68.58w. Just exiting the Gulf stream.
We have been making good time as we adjust to life and routine back on board..Watches on and off. Staysail is out to steady us. We need to push to the East and past Bermuda and then South to 25n 61w to avoid strong S to SSE winds later in the week.
We are off again..This time to warmer Climes in the Caribbean. We brought our departure forward by 2 days as we had a good weather window.
We left in Quiet conditions at Sunset yesterday Saturday the 12th. On the way out we adjusted and calibrated all the serviced equipment until we were happy. Then in a spectacular Moonlit evening (They say the Brightest moon since 1948) head South at 13 knots for the Gulfstream. It was cold at 3c but our Bridge Awning kept us warm. Took a while to adjust to the rolling motion of a boat underway. So maybe not too much sleep.
