Bartolome Penguins
/After our leisurely sail and a good lunch, We set about finding the Elusive Galapagos Penguins. They are not big! We actually found 9 of them, hanging out, slightly bemused at our presence. and lots of the red Crabs..

A Gentle Sail
/We left Puerto Egas this morning and had breakfast while moving around Isla San Salvador.
We set Sail at the east end of the island. The 15 knots hoped for did not materialize but we sailed anyway. 8-10kts of wind and about the same boat speed. Very soothing and relaxing. We all commented why we wait for more wind! After a 3 hour sail We headed in to Anchor at Bartolome. (See the Movie Master and Commander)

Rosehearty Wins Voyager of the Year Award
/Three entries were received for the Voyager’s Award: Beluga and Silentworld, which cruised remote islands in the Coral Sea off the Queensland coast of Australia, and the voyage of Rosehearty, which crossed the Drake Passage at the southern tip of South America to Antarctica. The Judges considered all of them adventurous – well beyond the bounds of everyday cruising. After much discussion and a secret ballot it became clear that the Judges favoured the Antarctic cruise that was undertaken by the 56-metre Perini Navi Rosehearty.
Rosehearty and the full moon
/Actually the full moon is tonight. but here it is with Rosehearty , after a relaxing Shower it is time for a nice Cocktail and an evening dinner in the aft cockpit, how about Pork and Shrimp Gyoza with Hot Chili oil , Peking Duck with pancakes, Scallions and Hoisin Sauce, and a Pear and Chocolate Cake.

Plaza and Gordon Rocks

After a quick trip over from Santa Fe to Islas Plaza’s we anchored off the North side of the Island. After another fabulous lunch it was all ashore in the Tender for a nice cliff walk. Plaza has, giant Cactus Trees, Sealions of course, land Iguanas and swallow Tailed Gulls. pure Magic. thanks to Lenka for the Photos and thank you to Mr C Lion, just point a camera at them and they pose! . Plaza is on the Left and Gordon rocks to the East is bathed in the evening sun

/Waved Albatross at home. Not the biggest of the Albatross , however they still have a wingspan of 2.5m or 8’
They are 4-5kg and travel thousands of miles..
They mate for life too.

/The swell is not big here right now..about 1.5m outside. Even these waves on the beach however still leaves one a bit of a challenge getting on and off the beach without getting your feet wet...

Santa Maria
/Enough of boat photos for a while. We Anchored off the famous Post office Bay on Santa Maria Island after a 56nm trip over from San Cristobal. Beautiful day with wall to wall sunshine. 2 nice walks today in different parts of the island. On 1 trail we cam across this fine specimen of a male Frigate Bird with his neck pouch fully inflated to attract his mate..That can’t be easy to do. On the afternoon stroll we had lots of flamingos but they were too far away this time. maybe they heard us coming. However we did have some close encounters with Lava Lizards especially this guy.

Kicker Rock.

I guess in the old times it looked like a foot. On this rock situated Mid way down the North coast of San Cristobal Island and about 1 mile offshore, there are breeding pairs of Nazca Boobies, Blue footed Boobies and Frigate birds. There are a few dive sites but as you can see no where to really land. perfect for bird colony as the Birds are undisturbed..
Nice day but for the swell rolling us a little but nobody seems to mind.

Rosehearty is all cleaned up and ready for guests. We are off on a 10 day tour of the Galapagos! Starting here in San Cristobal. Off up the East Coast. next stop Kicker Rock!
1st Visitor
/It was finally, an easy sail over from Panama and the rain stopped after a full 24 hours of pelting down. We tried to send the rain to Panama where it is badly needed.. At least when we arrived here it was clear. We cleared the formalities here in San Cristobal. and that includes, Immigration x 2, Park ranger, underwater divers to check hull was clean x 2. Bio guys x 2 to make sure we had no illegal foods (There is a lot you can not have on board) The military police, Navy, Port Captain and our Agent…Lots of paper and stamping but We are all good. We finally got to pop ashore to have a quick look around and our first greeting was from the Sea lions.. Welcome back to the Galapagos.
